Convert.ToInt16 Method (Boolean)

Converts the specified Boolean value to the equivalent 16-bit signed integer.

Parameters

value
Type: System.Boolean

The Boolean value to convert.

Return Value

Type: System.Int16
The number 1 if value is true; otherwise, 0.

The following example converts the Boolean values true and false to Int16 values.

Dim falseFlag As Boolean = False 
Dim trueFlag As Boolean = True

Console.WriteLine("{0} converts to {1}.", falseFlag, _
                  Convert.ToInt16(falseFlag))
Console.WriteLine("{0} converts to {1}.", trueFlag, _
                  Convert.ToInt16(trueFlag))
