XmlSerializationWriter.EscapeName Property

Note: This property is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

This property supports the .NET Framework infrastructure and is not intended to be used directly from your code.

Gets or sets a value that indicates whether the EncodeName method is used to write valid XML.

Namespace: System.Xml.Serialization
Assembly: System.Xml (in system.xml.dll)

protected bool EscapeName { get; set; }
/** @property */
protected boolean get_EscapeName ()

/** @property */
protected void set_EscapeName (boolean value)

protected function get EscapeName () : boolean

protected function set EscapeName (value : boolean)

Property Value

true if the FromXmlQualifiedName method returns an encoded name; otherwise, false.

The EncodeName method writes valid XML from invalid sources. For example, the ColumnName property of the DataColumn class can contain spaces, which are invalid as XML. The DecodeName method reads the encoded XML and restores it to the original value. However, the Read method of the XmlSchema cannot read such encoded XML. In that case, set the EscapeName property to false to disable the encoding of the XML.

Windows 98, Windows 2000 SP4, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP SP2, Windows XP Starter Edition

The .NET Framework does not support all versions of every platform. For a list of the supported versions, see System Requirements.
