DataGridViewCellPaintingEventArgs.ErrorText Property

Gets a string that represents an error message for the current DataGridViewCell.

Namespace:  System.Windows.Forms
Assembly:  System.Windows.Forms (in System.Windows.Forms.dll)

public string ErrorText { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.String
A string that represents an error message for the current DataGridViewCell.

When the current DataGridViewCell is a row header cell, the ErrorText property is the same as the DataGridViewRow.ErrorText property of the DataGridViewRow. When the current cell is a data cell, ErrorText is the same as the DataGridViewCell.ErrorText property of the DataGridViewCell.

The following code example demonstrates the use of this member. In the example, an event handler reports on the occurrence of the DataGridView.CellPainting event. This report helps you to learn when the event occurs and can assist you in debugging.

To run the example code, paste it into a project that contains an instance of type DataGridView named DataGridView1. Then ensure that the event handler is associated with the DataGridView.CellPainting event.

private void DataGridView1_CellPainting(Object sender, DataGridViewCellPaintingEventArgs e) {

System.Text.StringBuilder messageBoxCS = new System.Text.StringBuilder();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "AdvancedBorderStyle", e.AdvancedBorderStyle );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "CellBounds", e.CellBounds );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "CellStyle", e.CellStyle );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "ClipBounds", e.ClipBounds );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "ColumnIndex", e.ColumnIndex );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "ErrorText", e.ErrorText );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "FormattedValue", e.FormattedValue );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Graphics", e.Graphics );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "PaintParts", e.PaintParts );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "RowIndex", e.RowIndex );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "State", e.State );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Value", e.Value );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Handled", e.Handled );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
MessageBox.Show(messageBoxCS.ToString(), "CellPainting Event" );
}
