DataGridView::OnValidating Method (CancelEventArgs^)
Raises the Validating event.
Assembly: System.Windows.Forms (in System.Windows.Forms.dll)
Parameters
- e
-
Type:
System.ComponentModel::CancelEventArgs^
A CancelEventArgs that contains the event data.
| Exception | Condition |
|---|---|
| Exception | Validation failed and either there is no handler for the DataError event or the handler has set the DataGridViewDataErrorEventArgs::ThrowException property to true. The exception object can typically be cast to type FormatException. |
In addition to raising the Validating event, this method ends the current cell edit and validates the cell and row values.
Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see NIB: Raising an Event.
The OnValidating method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.
Notes to Inheritors:
When overriding OnValidating in a derived class, be sure to call the base class's OnValidating method so that registered delegates receive the event.
