PersonalizationProvider.SavePersonalizationBlob Method

Note: This method is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

When overridden in a derived class, saves raw personalization data to the underlying data store.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

protected:
virtual void SavePersonalizationBlob (
	WebPartManager^ webPartManager,
	String^ path,
	String^ userName,
	array<unsigned char>^ dataBlob
) abstract
protected abstract void SavePersonalizationBlob (
	WebPartManager webPartManager,
	String path,
	String userName,
	byte[] dataBlob
)
protected abstract function SavePersonalizationBlob (
	webPartManager : WebPartManager,
	path : String,
	userName : String,
	dataBlob : byte[]
)

Parameters

webPartManager

The WebPartManager managing the personalization data.

path

The path for personalization information to be used as the data store key.

userName

The user name for personalization information to be used as the key.

dataBlob

The byte array of data to be saved.

This method is the abstract definition of the method used for saving raw personalization data to the underlying data store.

Derived implementations should use the webPartManager, path, and userName parameters as storage keys. The derived personalization provider must be able to distinguish personalization data on a per-page basis. Furthermore, for a given page's state, the provider must be able to distinguish between Shared and User scope. If a non-a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) user name is provided, then the dataBlob parameter is in User scope; otherwise, the dataBlob parameter is assumed to be in Shared scope.
