ObjectDataSourceSelectingEventArgs.ExecutingSelectCount Property

Note: This property is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Gets a value indicating whether the ObjectDataSource is retrieving a row count during a data retrieval operation.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

public:
property bool ExecutingSelectCount {
	bool get ();
}
/** @property */
public boolean get_ExecutingSelectCount ()

public function get ExecutingSelectCount () : boolean

Property Value

true, if data source paging is enabled and the ObjectDataSource is retrieving a row count; otherwise, false.

When the ObjectDataSource object is performing data retrieval and data source paging is enabled, the data retrieval method is called twice:

  • Once to retrieve the set of data.

  • Once to retrieve a total row count.

This raises the Selecting event twice. For code that handles the Selecting event, it might be important to determine the nature of the event (retrieving data or retrieving row count) so that any additional work that is performed by the handler is not unnecessarily duplicated for every data retrieval operation that is performed.
