MenuItem.Value Property
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)
[LocalizableAttribute(true)] public: property String^ Value { String^ get (); void set (String^ value); }
/** @property */ public String get_Value () /** @property */ public void set_Value (String value)
public function get Value () : String public function set Value (value : String)
Property Value
Supplemental data about the menu item that is not displayed. The default value is an empty string ("").The Value property is used to supplement the Text property by storing any additional data associated with the menu item. This value is not displayed in the control and is commonly used to store data for handling postback events.
Note |
|---|
| If the Value property contains a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic), the get accessor returns the value of the Text property. If the Text property, in turn, contains a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic), Empty is returned. |
The value of the Value property is also used when the value path specified in the ValuePath property is generated. A value path is a delimiter-separated list of menu item values that forms a path from the root menu item to the current menu item. The value path is used to indicate the position of a menu item in a Menu control.
Note |
|---|
| Menu items at the same menu level must each have a unique value for the Value property; the Menu control cannot distinguish between different menu items at the same level that have the same value. |
The value of this property, when set, can be saved automatically to a resource file by using a designer tool. For more information, see LocalizableAttribute and ASP.NET Globalization and Localization.
