OnRowDeleting Method

GridView.OnRowDeleting Method

Note: This method is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Raises the RowDeleting event.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

protected virtual void OnRowDeleting (
	GridViewDeleteEventArgs e
)
protected void OnRowDeleting (
	GridViewDeleteEventArgs e
)
protected function OnRowDeleting (
	e : GridViewDeleteEventArgs
)

Parameters

e

A GridViewDeleteEventArgs that contains event data.

The RowDeleting event is raised when a row's Delete button is clicked, but before the GridView control deletes the row. This allows you to provide an event-handling method that performs a custom routine, such as canceling the delete operation, whenever this event occurs.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Raising an Event.

The OnRowDeleting method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors When overriding OnRowDeleting in a derived class, be sure to call the base class's OnRowDeleting method so that registered delegates receive the event.
