DetailsViewDeletedEventArgs.ExceptionHandled Property

Note: This property is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Gets or sets a value indicating whether an exception that was raised during the delete operation was handled in the event handler.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

public bool ExceptionHandled { get; set; }
/** @property */
public boolean get_ExceptionHandled ()

/** @property */
public void set_ExceptionHandled (boolean value)

public function get ExceptionHandled () : boolean

public function set ExceptionHandled (value : boolean)

Property Value

true if the exception was handled in the event handler; otherwise, false. The default is false.

When an exception is raised during the delete operation, use the ExceptionHandled property to indicate whether the exception was handled in the event handler. When this property is set to true, the exception is considered handled and is not passed further up the call stack. If this property is set to false, the exception is passed to the next method on the call stack for handling. To determine which exception was raised, use the Exception property.

The following code example demonstrates how to use the ExceptionHandled property to indicate that the exception was handled in the event handler.

<%@ Page language="C#" %>

<script runat="server">

  void StoresDetailView_ItemDeleted(Object sender,
    DetailsViewDeletedEventArgs e)
  {
    // Use the Exception property to determine whether an exception
    // occurred during the delete operation.
    if (e.Exception == null)
    {
      // Use the AffectedRows property to determine the numbers of
      // rows affected by the delete operation.
      if (e.AffectedRows == 1)
      {
        MessageLabel.Text = e.AffectedRows.ToString()
          + " record deleted successfully.";
      }
      else
      {
        MessageLabel.Text = e.AffectedRows.ToString()
          + " records deleted successfully.";
      }
    }
    else
    {
      // Insert the code to handle the exception.
      MessageLabel.Text = e.Exception.Message;

      // Use the ExceptionHandled property to indicate that the
      // exception is already handled.
      e.ExceptionHandled = true;
    }
  }

</script>
