Gets the index of the item being displayed in a DetailsView control from the underlying data source.

Namespace:  System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly:  System.Web (in System.Web.dll)

[BrowsableAttribute(false)]
public:
virtual property int DataItemIndex {
	int get ();
}

Property Value

Type: System::Int32
The zero-based index of the data item being displayed in a DetailsView control from the underlying data source.

When the paging feature is enabled (by setting the AllowPaging property to true), use the DataItemIndex property to determine the index of the currently displayed record. You can also use this property to programmatically change the displayed record.

NoteNote:

When the paging feature is enabled, you can also use this property to determine the page number of the record displayed; however, be aware that this property is zero-based.

To determine the total number of items in the data source, use the DataItemCount property.

The following code example demonstrates how to use the DataItemIndex property to determine the index of the current item in the data source. This value is used to display the current page number in a Label control contained in a custom pager row.
