DataList.OnDeleteCommand Method
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)
protected void OnDeleteCommand ( DataListCommandEventArgs e )
protected function OnDeleteCommand ( e : DataListCommandEventArgs )
Not applicable.
Parameters
- e
A DataListCommandEventArgs that contains event data.
Use the OnDeleteCommand method to provide a custom handler for the DeleteCommand event.
The DeleteCommand event is raised when the Delete button is clicked for an item in the DataList control.
A typical handler for the DeleteCommand event removes the selected item from the data source and then rebinds the data to the DataList control.
Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see How to: Consume Events in a Web Forms Application.
The OnDeleteCommand method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.
Notes to Inheritors: When overriding OnDeleteCommand in a derived class, be sure to call the base class's OnDeleteCommand method so that registered delegates receive the event.The following code example demonstrates how to specify and code a handler for the DeleteCommand event. It deletes the selected item in the DataList control when the Delete button is clicked.
