CheckBoxList.RepeatDirection Property

Gets or sets a value that indicates whether the control displays vertically or horizontally.

Namespace:  System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly:  System.Web (in System.Web.dll)

public virtual RepeatDirection RepeatDirection { get; set; }
<asp:CheckBoxList RepeatDirection="RepeatDirection" />

Property Value

Type: System.Web.UI.WebControls.RepeatDirection
One of the RepeatDirection values. The default is Vertical.

ExceptionCondition
ArgumentOutOfRangeException

The specified display direction of the list is not one of the RepeatDirection values.

Use this property to specify the display direction of the CheckBoxList control.

NoteNote:

The number of columns displayed is always determined by the RepeatColumns property.

If this property is set to RepeatDirection.Vertical, the items in the list are displayed in columns loaded top to bottom, then left to right, until all items are rendered. For example, if the RepeatColumns property is set to 3, the items in the CheckBoxList control are displayed in three columns, as in the following table.

If this property is set to RepeatDirection.Horizontal, the items in the list are displayed in rows loaded left to right, then top to bottom, until all items are rendered. For example, if the RepeatColumns property is set to 3, the items of the CheckBoxList control are displayed in rows of three items each, as in the following table.

The following code example demonstrates how to set the RepeatDirection property to specify that the display direction is vertical.

NoteNote:

The following code samples use the single-file code model and may not work correctly if copied directly into a code-behind file. Each code sample must be copied into an empty text file that has an .aspx extension. For more information on the Web Forms code model, see ASP.NET Web Page Code Model.
