ButtonColumn.CausesValidation Property

Note: This property is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Gets or sets a value indicating whether validation is performed when a button in the ButtonColumn object is clicked.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

public:
virtual property bool CausesValidation {
	bool get ();
	void set (bool value);
}
/** @property */
public boolean get_CausesValidation ()

/** @property */
public void set_CausesValidation (boolean value)

public function get CausesValidation () : boolean

public function set CausesValidation (value : boolean)

Property Value

true if validation is performed when a button in the ButtonColumn is clicked; otherwise, false. The default is false.

By default, page validation is not performed when a button in the ButtonColumn object is clicked. Page validation determines whether the input controls that are associated with a validation control on the page all pass the validation rules that are specified by the validation control. To perform page validation when a button in the ButtonColumn is clicked, set the CausesValidation property to true.

When the value of the CausesValidation property is true, you can also use the ValidationGroup property to specify the name of the validation group for which the ButtonColumn causes validation.

The value of this property is stored in view state.
