ValidationSummary.BackLabel Property

Gets or sets a string from the validation summary that links to the form that contains an error. The default value is String.Empty. This API is obsolete. For information about how to develop ASP.NET mobile applications, see the www.asp.net/mobile Web site.

Namespace:  System.Web.UI.MobileControls
Assembly:  System.Web.Mobile (in System.Web.Mobile.dll)

[BindableAttribute(true)]
public string BackLabel { get; set; }
<asp:ValidationSummary BackLabel="String" />

Property Value

Type: System.String
A string from the validation summary that links to the form that contains an error.

When an error occurs during the rendering of a form, the validation process uses the text in the BackLabel property as the string that is displayed on the validation summary page.

The following code example demonstrates how to use the BackLabel property to specify the link text in a ValidationSummary to return to the form with the error.

private void OnCmdClick(Object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    if (Page.IsValid)
        ActiveForm = Form2;
    else
    {
        ValSummary.BackLabel = "Return to Form";
        ActiveForm = Form3;
    }
}
