DataSourceConverter.IsValidDataSource Method

Note: This method is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Indicates whether the specified component is a valid data source for this converter.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.Design
Assembly: System.Design (in system.design.dll)

protected:
virtual bool IsValidDataSource (
	IComponent^ component
)
protected boolean IsValidDataSource (
	IComponent component
)
protected function IsValidDataSource (
	component : IComponent
) : boolean

Parameters

component

The component to check as a valid data source.

Return Value

true if component implements IEnumerable or IListSource; otherwise, false.

The GetStandardValues method uses the IsValidDataSource method to determine the components that are available as standard accessible data sources. For the DataSourceConverter class, a valid data source is a component that implements the IEnumerable or IListSource interface.

Notes to Implementers Custom data source converters can derive from the DataSourceConverter class, and override the IsValidDataSource method, to test for the interface implementations that are required to use a component as a data source.
