SqlRoleProvider.Initialize Method

Initializes the SQL Server role provider with the property values specified in the ASP.NET application's configuration file. This method is not intended to be used directly from your code.

Parameters

name
Type: System.String
The name of the SqlRoleProvider instance to initialize.
config
Type: System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection
A System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection that contains the names and values of configuration options for the role provider.

ExceptionCondition
System.Web.HttpException

The ASP.NET application is not running at Medium trust or higher.

System.ArgumentNullException

config is a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).

System.Configuration.Provider.ProviderException

The connectionStringName attribute is empty or does not exist in the application configuration file for this SqlRoleProvider instance.

The applicationName attribute exceeds 256 characters.

-or-

The application configuration file for this SqlRoleProvider instance contains an unrecognized attribute.

This method initializes the SqlRoleProvider with the property values specified in the ASP.NET application configuration file (Web.config) and is not intended to be used directly from your code.
