HttpResponse.ContentType Property

Gets or sets the HTTP MIME type of the output stream.

Namespace: System.Web
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

Public Property ContentType As String
Dim instance As HttpResponse
Dim value As String

value = instance.ContentType

instance.ContentType = value
/** @property */
public String get_ContentType ()

/** @property */
public void set_ContentType (String value)

public function get ContentType () : String

public function set ContentType (value : String)

Property Value

The HTTP MIME type of the output stream. The default value is "text/html ".

Exception typeCondition

The ContentType property is set to a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).

The following code example sets the ContentType property for the response to image/jpeg, calls the Clear method to remove all headers and other content that might be attached to the response, and then sets the BufferOutput property to true so that the entire page will be processed before any content is sent to the requesting client.

For a complete example, see the HttpResponse class.

' Set the page's content type to JPEG files
' and clear all response headers.
Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg"

' Buffer response so that page is sent
' after processing is complete.
Response.BufferOutput = True
