MachineKeySection.Validation Property

Specifies the type of hashing algorithm that is used for validating data.

Type: System.Web.Configuration.MachineKeyValidation
A value that indicates the type of encryption used to validate data.

There are three encryption types that can be specified for the Validation property:

  • The SHA1 type, which is the default value, specifies that ASP.NET uses SHA1 encryption.

  • The MD5 type specifies that ASP.NET uses MD5 encryption.

  • 3DES specifies that ASP.NET uses TripleDES (3DES) encryption.

The following example demonstrates how to use the Validation property. This code example is part of a larger example provided for the MachineKeySection class.
