CryptoStream Methods

The methods of the CryptoStream class are listed here. For a complete list of CryptoStream class members, see the CryptoStream Members topic.

Public Methods

public methodBeginRead (inherited from Stream) Begins an asynchronous read operation.
public methodBeginWrite (inherited from Stream) Begins an asynchronous write operation.
public methodClear Releases all resources used by the CryptoStream.
public methodClose Overridden. Closes the current stream and releases any resources (such as sockets and file handles) associated with the current stream.
public methodCreateObjRef (inherited from MarshalByRefObject) Creates an object that contains all the relevant information required to generate a proxy used to communicate with a remote object.
public methodEndRead (inherited from Stream) Waits for the pending asynchronous read to complete.
public methodEndWrite (inherited from Stream) Ends an asynchronous write operation.
public methodEquals (inherited from Object) Overloaded. Determines whether two Object instances are equal.
public methodFlush Overridden. Clears all buffers for this stream and causes any buffered data to be written to the underlying device.
public methodFlushFinalBlock Updates the underlying data source or repository with the current state of the buffer, then clears the buffer.
public methodGetHashCode (inherited from Object) Serves as a hash function for a particular type, suitable for use in hashing algorithms and data structures like a hash table.
public methodGetLifetimeService (inherited from MarshalByRefObject) Retrieves the current lifetime service object that controls the lifetime policy for this instance.
public methodGetType (inherited from Object) Gets the Type of the current instance.
public methodInitializeLifetimeService (inherited from MarshalByRefObject) Obtains a lifetime service object to control the lifetime policy for this instance.
public methodRead Overridden. Reads a sequence of bytes from the current CryptoStream and advances the position within the stream by the number of bytes read.
public methodReadByte (inherited from Stream) Reads a byte from the stream and advances the position within the stream by one byte, or returns -1 if at the end of the stream.
public methodSeek Overridden. Sets the position within the current stream.
public methodSetLength Overridden. Sets the length of the current stream.
public methodToString (inherited from Object) Returns a String that represents the current Object.
public methodWrite Overridden. Writes a sequence of bytes to the current CryptoStream and advances the current position within this stream by the number of bytes written.
public methodWriteByte (inherited from Stream) Writes a byte to the current position in the stream and advances the position within the stream by one byte.

Protected Methods

protected methodCreateWaitHandle (inherited from Stream) Allocates a WaitHandle object.
protected methodDispose Releases the unmanaged resources used by the CryptoStream and optionally releases the managed resources.
protected methodFinalize Overridden. Releases the unmanaged resources used by the CryptoStream.

In C# and C++, finalizers are expressed using destructor syntax.

protected methodMemberwiseClone (inherited from Object) Creates a shallow copy of the current Object.
