StreamingContext Structure

Describes the source and destination of a given serialized stream, as well as a means for serialization to retain that context and an additional caller-defined context.

For a list of all members of this type, see StreamingContext Members.

[Visual Basic]
Public Structure StreamingContext
public struct StreamingContext
public __value struct StreamingContext

[JScript] In JScript, you can use the structures in the .NET Framework, but you cannot define your own.

Thread Safety

Any public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe.

Indicates the source or destination of the bits that the formatter is using. Classes with surrogates or implementing ISerializable can serialize or ignore fields and values based on the information stored in the streaming context. For example, a window handle is still valid if State has the State CrossProcess value set, but not with the CrossMachine or File value set.
