Package.GetPartCore Method

When overridden in a derived class, returns the part addressed by a given URI.

Namespace:  System.IO.Packaging
Assembly:  WindowsBase (in WindowsBase.dll)

protected abstract PackagePart GetPartCore(
	Uri partUri

Type: System.Uri
The uniform resource identifier (URI) of the part to retrieve.

Return Value

Type: System.IO.Packaging.PackagePart
The requested part; or null, if a part with the specified partUri is not in the package.

By default, a ZipPackage derived implementation of the abstract Package class is provided and used. In the default operation, GetPart internally calls GetPartCore of the ZipPackage class to retrieve a part from a ZIP file.

For more information about the package model and package parts, see Chapter 1 of the Open Packaging Conventions (OPC) specification available for download at

Notes to Inheritors

The derived class GetPartCore implementation is called by the GetPart method to access and return the specified part based on the physical format implemented in the derived class.

The derived GetPartCore implementation should make no assumptions about the order or operations performed by the GetPart method that calls it.
