FileVersionInfo.InternalName Property

Gets the internal name of the file, if one exists.

Namespace:  System.Diagnostics
Assembly:  System (in System.dll)

public string InternalName { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.String
The internal name of the file. If none exists, this property will contain the original name of the file without the extension.

The following example calls GetVersionInfo to get the FileVersionInfo for the Notepad. Then it prints the InternalName in a text box. This code assumes textBox1 has been instantiated.

private void GetInternalName()
    // Get the file version for the notepad.
    FileVersionInfo myFileVersionInfo =
        FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo(Environment.SystemDirectory + "\\Notepad.exe");

    // Print the internal name.
    textBox1.Text = "Internal name: " + myFileVersionInfo.InternalName;
