OracleParameter.Direction Property

Gets or sets a value that indicates whether the parameter is input-only, output-only, bidirectional, or a stored procedure return value parameter.

Namespace: System.Data.OracleClient
Assembly: System.Data.OracleClient (in system.data.oracleclient.dll)

'Declaration
Public Overrides Property Direction As ParameterDirection
'Usage
Dim instance As OracleParameter
Dim value As ParameterDirection

value = instance.Direction

instance.Direction = value
/** @property */
public ParameterDirection get_Direction ()

/** @property */
public void set_Direction (ParameterDirection value)

public override function get Direction () : ParameterDirection

public override function set Direction (value : ParameterDirection)

Property Value

One of the ParameterDirection values. The default is Input.

Exception typeCondition

ArgumentException

The property was not set to one of the valid ParameterDirection values.

If the ParameterDirection is output, and execution of the associated OracleCommand does not return a value, the OracleParameter contains a null value.

Output, InputOut, and ReturnValue parameters returned by calling ExecuteReader cannot be accessed until you call Close or Dispose on the OracleDataReader.

The following example creates a OracleParameter and sets some of its properties.

Public Sub CreateOracleDbParameter()
   Dim parameter As New OracleParameter()
   parameter.ParameterName = "pDName"
   parameter.DbType = DbType.String
   parameter.Value = "ENGINEERING"
   parameter.SourceColumn = "DName"
End Sub
