Byte.MinValue Field

Represents the smallest possible value of a Byte. This field is constant.

Namespace:  System
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

Public Const MinValue As Byte

The value of this constant is 0.

The following example demonstrates how to use the MinValue field to screen variable inputs for values that are outside the range of possible byte values.

      Public Sub MinMaxFields(ByVal outputBlock As System.Windows.Controls.TextBlock, ByVal numberToSet As Integer)
         If numberToSet <= CInt([Byte].MaxValue) And numberToSet >= CInt([Byte].MinValue) Then
            ' You must explicitly convert an integer to a byte.
            MemberByte = CType(numberToSet, [Byte])

            ' Displays MemberByte using the ToString() method.
            outputBlock.Text += String.Format("The MemberByte value is {0}.", MemberByte.ToString()) & vbCrLf
            outputBlock.Text += String.Format("The value {0} is outside of the range of possible Byte values.", numberToSet.ToString()) & vbCrLf
         End If
      End Sub 'MinMaxFields
