How to: Organize a Solution Using Solution Folders

After you have added one or more Solution Folders to a solution, your next step is to group the projects in the Solution Folders. Solution Folders and projects can be moved only within the current solution.


Solution Folders are an organizational tool in Solution Explorer; corresponding Windows folders are not created. We recommend that you organize your projects on disk in the same way that you organize them in the solution.

To move a Solution Folder or project

  1. In Solution Explorer, select the Solution Folder or project that you want to move.

  2. On the Edit menu, choose Cut.

  3. In Solution Explorer, select the solution or the destination Solution Folder.

  4. On the Edit menu, choose Paste.


    You can drag Solution Folders and projects to move them.
