How to: Specify the SIP Peer Listening Ports

To establish connectivity with the SIP peer, Speech Server must know the network ports that the SIP peer is using to listen for SIP messages. This information is particularly important for outbound-calling applications and applications that transfer calls.

You can configure network ports using the Speech Server Administrator console. The default SIP peer listening ports are 5060 for Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and 5061 for Transport Layer Security (TLS). For Telephony Interface Manager Connector (TIMC), the default listening ports are 7423 for TCP and 7424 for TLS. If the SIP peer is configured to listen on these ports, you can configure Speech Server to use the default ports. However, if the SIP peer is configured to listen on different ports, you must specify those ports in the Administrator console.

Specifying Listening Ports for SIP Peers

To specify the SIP peer listening port

  1. Open the Speech Server Administrator console.

  2. In the console tree, click SIP Peers.

  3. In the details pane, right-click the SIP peer you want to change, and then click Properties.

  4. Depending on network ports configured on the SIP peer for listening to TCP and TLS transmissions, select or clear the Use default ports check box, and then enter the ports the SIP peer is using.

  5. Click OK.

  6. If the SIP peer is a trusted SIP peer for one or more computers running Speech Server, click Yes in the dialog box asking to save the changes for all the servers.

    Note

    When you change a SIP peer's network settings, Speech Server attempts to resolve the address and establish communications with the SIP peer. If it is not able to resolve the address, you can correct the address or, if you know the problem is with the SIP peer, change the settings.
