Windows Firewall Configuration On a Deployed Device

When you have deployed a device with Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing, there are several ways to change the settings. This is also useful if you need to temporarily change settings to perform troubleshooting. The following list shows some of the ways you can change your settings:

  • If you configured Windows Firewall before deployment to allow Device Update Agent (DUA), or Remote Access, you may be able to change individual settings or install a new image remotely.

  • If you installed the Windows Firewall Control Panel component and have Administrator-level access at the device, you can use Windows Firewall Control Panel to change Windows Firewall settings.

  • If you installed the Network Command Shell component and have Administrator-level access at the device, you can use Netsh commands to change Windows Firewall settings, including add, delete, reset, set, or show the firewall configuration. At a command prompt type Netsh firewall to run and view firewall-specific commands.

For more information about NetShell, see this Microsoft Web site.
