Connecting a result viewer to an Office web part

Once you’ve added a result viewer and Office web part to a portal page, complete the following steps to connect them.

For information on adding an Office web part to a portal page, see Office web part communication.

  1. Configure the publishing result viewer.

Specify which entity your result viewer is publishing data from. To do so, click the arrow in the result viewer’s title bar. In the menu that appears, select Modify Shared Web Part. The web part tool pane appears.

In the web part tool pane, expand the Web Part Communication link. Click the Configure Publishing button. In the Web Part Communication window, select the entity your result viewer is publishing data from. Click Save.

The web part tool pane is redisplayed. Be sure that you do not select the alternative publishing option.

Set other configuration options, as necessary. Click OK to save your changes.

  1. Set your page to Design mode.

At the top of your page, click Modify Shared Page > Design this Page. (A check mark will appear next to the Design this Page option.)

Your page must be in Design mode for you to connect the publishing and subscribing web parts.
