Information page descriptions

When creating an information page, you’ll need to enter a short and long description for the page. These descriptions may appear in the summary and task web parts, found on your center page.

Summary web part A summary web part provides information about portal pages that appear as second-level or third-level menu items inside a center. If your information page is a second-level menu item, its name and long description will appear in the summary web part. If your information page is a third-level menu item, its short description will appear in the summary web part. The following illustration shows a summary web part.

**Task web part   **A task web part provides users with a list of key tasks that they can perform inside a center. When a user selects a task, the page associated with the task is displayed. If you add a task for your information page, the information page’s short description will appear in the task web part. The following illustration shows a task web part.

The following guidelines apply to short descriptions:

  • Should be three to five words in length.
  • Capitalize the first letter of the first word of the description.
  • Begin the description with a verb such as “View” or “Create”.
  • Do not use punctuation at the end of the description.
