The National Geode SP4SC30 Development Platform is designed for for hardware and software development.

Note   Storing the Ethernet boot loader in ROM (romboot) is not supported on the National Geode SP4SC30 Development Platform.

Note   To avoid possible hardware damage, only use a 3.3-volt card; the DP83815-based NetGear FA-312 is recommended.

Note   The PCI slots on the National Geode SP4SC30 Development Platform are 3.3-volt slots. Plugging a 5-volt PCI card into either PCI slot permanently damages the National Geode SP4SC30 Development Platform. If it looks like a card is being plugged in backwards, it is being done incorrectly. Always use the Babel interposer card that is packaged with the National Geode SP4SC30 Development Platform to install a 5 V PCI card into the National Geode SP4SC30 Development Platform.

  • In cases where a PCI extender does not work in the system, see the hardware platform vendor for a BIOS update.
