Connection Manager can handle the following connection types, provided that the Connection Manager configuration service provider enumerates the connection properly:

  • Remote Access Service (RAS) connections using the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections
  • General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) connections
  • Proxy Server connections
  • Wi-Fi (802.11) connections
  • Wired Ethernet (802.3) connections
  • Desktop Passthrough (DTPT) connections

The following diagram illustrates the different types of connections that Connection Manager can help establish.
