Replication and the SEARCH Method

Replication and the SEARCH Method

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

The SEARCH Method is used to search the properties of an existing resource. The SEARCH Method in the context of WebDAV replication is used to search and download the property changes for a resource. The SEARCH Method can be used to fetch the manifest of a collection or collection hierarchy. See Manifest of a Collection for information about how to use the SEARCH Method to fetch manifest.

The server will not return the resourcetag of the affected resources in the response headers due to the possibility of large result set. However, the client can explicitly fetch the resourcetag as a property of every resource reported in the SEARCH Method response.

See Replication and the GET Method for further SEARCH Method scenarios.
