Microsoft® Windows® server operating systems provides many platform technologies that support a wide variety of application development strategies. Using platform technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory® and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) improves third-party and custom application management and interoperability across the enterprise. Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 uses many of these technologies to achieve higher performance, compatibility, reliability and integration than could be obtained using Exchange-specific or non-integrated technologies.
