Normal Operation

The NVRAM device included in a Windows Powered server appliance is used to store information about the system before a major system state change such as a shutdown or a software update. The driver does not attempt to identify major state changes or the data that must be stored. Rather, the reliability framework component in the Server Appliance Kit is responsible for recognizing major state changes and calling the low-level NVRAM driver with the information to be stored.
