Using Target Designer to Design an Embedded System

When you design an embedded system, you must perform the following procedures. (To display a specific procedure, click the appropriate hyperlink.)

  1. To create the operating system, copy an example to the User Configuration capability, and then rename it.

    Or, start a new configuration.

  2. For your configuration, add, change or delete components.

  3. If you want to add new capabilities and components to the Target Designer system database, which will be listed in the All Nodes pane, you must create and import a component definition file.

  4. Use the build-and-install process to create your target system.

**Note   **An example is a full, bootable configuration that can be built and installed with no change. Each example in the All Nodes pane is configured along with a set of components for a specific function.
