Installation

The driver installation process includes setting the registry entries required to initialize the driver upon startup. These entries are stored in a format that the DriverEntry function accepts under the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SANVRAM\Parameters registry key.

The Windows Powered server appliance can have—at most—one NVRAM device used for storing state between system boots, and only one driver for that device is installed by the OEM. Therefore, there is no conflict when specifying the registry key exactly.

The driver is installed with the following registry value, under the driver registry key mentioned at the beginning of this page:

Group: SAHW

Start: 0x1

Installing the driver in load group 0x1 causes it to be loaded and initialized in phase five of the startup process. At that time, the driver has access to the registry name space under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System registry key.
