Remarks

Open initializes statistics reporting and event threads for the specified device. Open also initializes the values of many properties. This includes the DataEventEnabled, FreezeEvents, AutoDisable, Claimed properties and more. For specifics about how these properties are initialized, see the individual properties.

Open may throw a PosControlException with the following values:

One of the following conditions has occurred:

  • The device is already opened; or

  • The DeviceName property is null or an empty string ("").

Thread Safety

Any public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are thread-safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread-safe.
