Component Designer Overview

Using Component Designer, a companion tool to Target Designer, you can create a component definition file to define a component.

The Component Designer window is comprised of menus, a toolbar, the navigation pane (left), the details pane (right), and the status bar.

In the Component Designer navigation pane, Component Designer displays a graphic view of component definition files:

The active item in the navigation pane controls the information listed in the details pane. For example:

  • When a capability is selected in the navigation pane, the details pane lists all components under the capability. It also lists the Needs, Needed by, and Conflicts section for the capability.
  • When a file under a component is active, the details pane displays the file name, source, target, size, and target name.
