Social Context

Social Context

Overview of social context when using the Tablet PC.

Frequently, users employ Tablet PCs when they are not alone—in meetings, on planes, or during interactive discussions—or when they are outdoors where glare might occur. When designing your application, carefully consider the social context in which your application is used.

Visual feedback is important if users are working in a loud or busy environment or have many discussions and meetings. Visual feedback is noticeable only to the user and does not interrupt conversations. Audio feedback is unacceptable in such social environments, however, because it interrupts meetings and conversation. Audio feedback may be acceptable in an office or for people with low vision or who are blind, but it should not be the only feedback method.
