Applies To: Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server Technical Preview, Windows Vista

You can now specify a full domain name service (DNS) path name when you create a queue, and you can also retrieve the DNS path name of an existing queue or computer. This change affects the existing queue path name property used to create the queue, and it requires two new read-only properties, one for the DNS path name of the queue and one for the DNS path name of the computer.

When you create a queue, the queue path name property can now accept NetBIOS and full DNS path names.

To retrieve the DNS path name of a queue or computer, you can look at one of the two read-only DNS path name properties, the one for queues or the one for computers. In both cases, the DNS path name returned is generated at the time of the call. DNS path names are not stored in the directory service.
