Required Fields

IIS 6.0

The following fields are required in Internet Database Connector (IDC) files that are used to create Web pages that are populated with information from a database. For more information about IDC, see IIS Internet Database Connector.


IDC has been deprecated because it does not provide enough security for data connections. IIS 6.0 will be the last version to include IDC.




The name that corresponds to the ODBC system Data Source Name (DSN) you created earlier by using the ODBC Administrator.


The name of the HTML extension file that formats the data returned from this query. By convention these files use the file-name extension .htx.


The SQL statement to execute. The SQL statement can contain parameter values, which must be enclosed with percent characters (%) from the client. The SQL statement can occupy multiple lines in the .idc file. Following the SQLStatement field, each subsequent line beginning with a plus sign (+) is considered part of the SQLStatement field. Multiple SQL statements can appear in the same file.

Client: Requires Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows NT Workstation 4.0.

Server: Requires Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Server, or Windows NT Server 4.0.
