If content included in the search index comes from more than one site, it is not likely that all of the sites are of equal importance; it’s more likely that some sites contain information that is more valuable to the organization than other information. Authoritative sites provide a way for a search administrator to identify more relevant sites from the sites included in the search index, in order of importance. Search administrators can also identify the least important sites, so that the relevance scores that are calculated based these sites are downgraded.
