Walkthrough: Configuring Search for the AdventureWorks Business Data Application Sample
Enterprise Search in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Business Data Catalog give you the ability to include business data from back-end server applications, such as SAP or Siebel, in search queries. However, adding an application to the Business Data Catalog does not make it available to Enterprise Search automatically. You must configure Enterprise Search to search an application in the Business Data Catalog.
This walkthrough guides you through the steps to configure search for the AdventureWorks SQL Server 2000 Sample.
Before you begin this walkthrough, do the following:
Complete the steps 1, 2, and 5 from AdventureWorks SQL Server 2000 Sample, so that you have a connection to the AdventureWorks2000 database; have defined the entities, methods, and filters used by the Business Data Catalog; and have defined an IDEnumerator to enable business data search for the business data application:
Test the Business Data Catalog application you created from the AdventureWorks2000 sample. You can find the steps to do this in How to: Create a Business Data List Web Part.
Make sure you have the following in your test environment:
A server with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 installed
Permissions to administer the Shared Service Provider configuration
After you complete this walkthrough, content from the AdventureWorks2000 sample database is available for search queries. Next, you must customize the search user interface, or create custom search applications to execute queries against the business data content.
