Team System Testing Tools Windows

There are several main windows of the Team System testing tools, and you can perform various tasks in each:

  • Test View. Use this window to run and edit tests.

  • Test List Editor. Use this window to manage and run tests and test lists.

  • Test Results. Use this window to view the results of test runs, and to pause, continue, stop, and re-run test runs.

  • Code Coverage Results. Use this window to view statistics about the elements tested in a test run.

  • Test Runs. Use this window to view the status of active, queued, and completed test runs on the local computer or on a set of remote computers.

  • Test Details. Use this page to view details of the run of an individual test, including error messages.

  • Run Details. Use this page to view the details of a test run, which typically includes multiple tests.

You can open the Test List Editor and the Test View, Test Results, Code Coverage Results, and Test Runs windows of the Team System testing tools by clicking Windows on the Test menu, and then clicking the name of the window. You can also open these windows from the Test Tools toolbar. Running tests automatically opens the Test Results window.

You can open the Test Details page by double-clicking a test result row in the Test Results window. You can open the Run Details page by clicking the status link on the status bar of the Test Results window. The wording of the status link reflects the status of the test run, for example: Test run error, Test run inconclusive, Test run failed, or Test run completed.
