How to: Add Logical Datacenter Diagrams to Solutions

In Visual Studio Team System Architecture Edition, you can begin designing a logical datacenter using Logical Datacenter Designer. You can perform this task by adding a new or existing logical datacenter diagram to a solution.

To add a blank logical datacenter diagram to the solution

  1. In Solution Explorer, click the top-level solution node.

  2. On the Project menu, click Add New Distributed System Diagram.

The Add New Item - Solution Items dialog box appears. Under Categories, the Distributed System Diagrams node appears selected.

  3. Under Templates, click Logical Datacenter Diagram.

  4. Name the diagram and click Add.

Logical Datacenter Designer displays an empty logical datacenter diagram. In Solution Explorer, the diagram appears in the Solution Items folder with an .ldd extension.

To add an existing logical datacenter diagram to the solution

  1. On the Project menu, click Add Existing Item.

The Add Existing Item - Solution Items dialog box appears.

  2. Browse for and select a logical datacenter diagram (.ldd) file.

Logical Datacenter Designer displays the diagram you selected.
