Configuring Team Projects with Team Explorer

Team Explorer provides you with an organized view of your team projects. To access Team Explorer, click Team Explorer on the View menu.

Team Explorer displays team projects from only one Team Foundation Server at a time. When you first open Team Explorer, it will be empty, and you must connect it to a Team Foundation Server. Then you can select which team projects you want displayed in Team Explorer.

Use the Connect to Team Foundation Server dialog box to choose which team projects are displayed in Team Explorer. When you expand a team project node, it displays additional nodes determined by the process template for that team project. For example, a team project created with the MSF for Agile Software Development process templates will display the following nodes:

  • Work Items   This node provides access to add work items and to create and view queries against the work item database.

  • Documents   This node provides access to documents such as functional specifications and risk assessments that are stored on the project portal.

  • Reports   This node provides access to reports containing metrics for the team project.

  • Team Builds   This node provides access to the public builds of your team project.

  • Source Control   This node provides access to the team project source control management hierarchy.
