BindingList.SortPropertyCore Property

Gets the property descriptor that is used for sorting the list if sorting is implemented in a derived class; otherwise, returns a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).

Namespace: System.ComponentModel
Assembly: System (in system.dll)

protected virtual PropertyDescriptor SortPropertyCore { get; }
/** @property */
protected PropertyDescriptor get_SortPropertyCore ()

protected function get SortPropertyCore () : PropertyDescriptor

Not applicable.

Property Value

The PropertyDescriptor used for sorting the list.

SortPropertyCore returns a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) by default because the BindingList class does not provide a base implementation of sorting. To enable sorting, derive a class from BindingList and:

  • Override ApplySortCore and implement sorting.

  • Override RemoveSortCore and implement sort removal.

  • Override SupportsSortingCore and set SupportsSortingCore to true.

  • Optionally, override the SortPropertyCore to return the PropertyDescriptor used for sorting.
