LinkedList.AddLast Method (Generic LinkedListNode)

Adds the specified new node at the end of the LinkedList.

Namespace: System.Collections.Generic
Assembly: System (in system.dll)

public void AddLast (
	LinkedListNode<T> node
)
public void AddLast (
	LinkedListNode<T> node
)
public function AddLast (
	node : LinkedListNode<T>
)
Not applicable.

Parameters

node

The new LinkedListNode to add at the end of the LinkedList.

Exception typeCondition

ArgumentNullException

node is a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).

InvalidOperationException

node belongs to another LinkedList.

LinkedList accepts a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) as a valid Value for reference types and allows duplicate values.

If the LinkedList is empty, the new node becomes the First and the Last.

This method is an O(1) operation.

The following code example and output demonstrate the use of the AddLast method to add an existing node to the end of the list. The code example inserts a new node at the beginning of a linked list of nodes containing strings, displays the list, marks and removes the first node, and uses the AddLast(Generic LinkedListNode) method overload to add the node to the end of the list.

This code and output are part of a larger example provided for the LinkedList class.

// Move the first node to be the last node.
LinkedListNode<string> mark1 = sentence.First;
sentence.RemoveFirst();
sentence.AddLast(mark1);
