BufferCount Property

BackupRestoreBase.BufferCount Property

Gets or sets the total number of I/O buffers to be used for the backup or restore operation.

Namespace:  Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo
Assembly:  Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended (in Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended.dll)

public int BufferCount { get; set; }

Property Value

Type: System.Int32
An Int32 value that specifies the total number of I/O buffers to be used for the backup operation.

You can specify any positive integer. Using a lot of buffers might cause "out of memory" errors because of insufficient virtual address space in the Sqlservr.exe process.

The total buffer space used is the following product: buffercount * maxtransfersize.
