The method supports the standard return values E_INVALIDARG, E_UNEXPECTED, and E_OUTOFMEMORY, as well as the following return values:
A subsequent call to the GetData method probably will be successful.
lindex is not valid.
pFormatEtc is not valid.
tymed is not valid.
The object application is not running.
A client of a data object that is implementing the IDataObject interface calls the method to determine the likelihood of success of a subsequent call to the GetData method. A result indicating that this instance of the IDataObject interface can render the data that is contained in the a parameter does not guarantee success in a subsequent call to the GetData method.
